How to replace new display on HUAWEI P30?

Huawei has long been known for its pro-customer-oriented policy when it comes to the spare parts.  Spare parts designed to repair equipment with this brand are always easily available, at an affordable price and, of course, in the original quality.

Huawei is the latest to come up with a new range of replacement displays for its hugely popular and expanded Huawei P30.  All owners of these devices can replace the old spare part with a new, equally high quality, but at the same time more battery-friendly, in the event of a cracked, broken or otherwise damaged display. In order for this fix to run without problems, you must have a sufficiently up-to-date operating system installed, at least version 11.0.0.x.  In the event that such a new display would be installed on a device with an older version of the OS, after installation the device may show various unwanted errors (spontaneous restart, display display malfunction, etc.).

How to check the OS version on Huawei P30?

To find out what operating system (OS) is on a given device, it is necessary to proceed as follows:

  1. open SETTINGS
  2. click on System & updates
  3. click on Software update
  4. check for updates

If the latest software is not installed, follow the on-screen instructions to update your device to the latest OS version, 11.0.0 or higher.

Always remember to back up your device before updating!  The backup can be performed online (using cloud storage) or by backing up the data file to another device (computer).

But what if the display is already damaged and the device cannot be controlled?

In this case there are 2 options:

1. Update via monitor

The mobile phone can also be controlled via a monitor with a USB adapter.  You also need a mouse and keyboard, which must also be connected to the monitor.  Then turn on your device to start Screen Mirroring (it will start automatically).  Then use the keypad to enter the device unlock code and use the mouse to update the device.

2. Use of the old replacement display

If  you have another, older replacement display compatible with the P30, you can install it on the device for the necessary time (the installation does not need to be completed completely, just bring the device to a state where it can be controlled) and through this “replacement ” display install the update.  Then all you have to do is replace the display with a new one.

When you have the device updated to the latest OS version, you can proceed to the installation of the new display itself.

Good luck!
